Offering a welcome respite from the scorching summer heat, the hill stations of Tamil Nadu are popular with tourists. Some of the famous hill stations of the state are:

Ooty

Ideally nestled in the bewitching Nilgiri hills, Ooty is a famed destination of Tamil Nadu. Located at an altitude of 2240 m, Ooty is rich in natural beauty. Its main attractions are the botanical garden, tea and coffee gardens, government museum (displaying tribal artifacts) and lake. A flower show is organized at the botanical garden in May every year.

Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal, the very word conjures up images of beautiful hills, lake and forests. Popularly known as the 'Princess of Hill Stations', Kodaikanal is an enchanting hill station of Tamil Nadu. Located at a altitude of 2100 m, it takes pride in its wonderful attractions – Kodaikanal lake, Bryant park, Coaker's walk, Bear Shola falls, Pillar rocks and Guna caves.

Coonoor

Wrapped up in overwhelming natural beauty, Coonoor is located in Nilgiri Hills. Its attractions encompass tea plantation, beautiful meadows, flowers and gorgeous greens. It is one of the most famous hill stations of Tamil Nadu. Sim's Park is a must-see attraction at Coonoor. It is a botanical garden boasting of around 1,000 plant species. A fruit and vegetable show is organized here every year in the month of May.

Kotagiri

Famed as one of the best hill stations in Nilgiri, Kotagiri is nestled amidst the refreshing tea gardens. It is the third largest and the oldest hill station in the Nilgiri hills. Its main attractions are the Kodanad View Point, Elka falls, Long Wood Shola(wildlife reserve) St. Catharine Falls, Rangaswamy Pillar and Peak.
